About myself
My name is Veerle, and I graduated as a dog groomer from Syntra Mechelen in 1992. With great enthusiasm, I established my own grooming salon and cat hotel, named Floris & Floriaan, in 1994. This venture allowed me to combine my skills and love for dogs and cats, a passion that has been with me since childhood.
My commitment to animal care is further complemented by my personal connection; my husband, Kris, is a veterinarian. From our early days together, I frequently assisted him with coat care, particularly for cats. This experience inspired me to pursue formal training as a dog groomer, enabling me to enhance my expertise in this field.
Initially, I operated Floris & Floriaan part-time while balancing other responsibilities. However, in 1997, I transitioned to running the salon and hotel full-time, a decision that allowed me to fully immerse myself in the grooming profession until 2016. At that time, I was presented with an opportunity to join Kris’s veterinary practice on a part-time basis. I embraced this chance, leading to a harmonious balance between the two roles I hold, both in grooming and veterinary care.
This unique combination of experiences has proved invaluable, enriching my understanding of animal health and welfare in conjunction with grooming practices. I am proud to say that my work not only supports the aesthetic needs of pets but also contributes to their overall well-being.
Kerry Blue Terriers
Through my studies I came into contact with the Kerry Blue Terrier and fell in love immediately.
Since 1995, Kerrys have been an indispensable part of our lives. Dogs and cats are the common thread in our lives, our house is not a home without four-legged friends.
Personal approach
Physically speaking, 30 years of working with animals has taken its toll, which is why I can only groom small dogs of up to 15kg. If I want to continue doing my great job for a few more years, I’d rather leave the more intense work to younger colleagues in the area.
The welfare of animals is our top priority here; your animal is my concern.
I love giving each animal personal attention, creating a pleasant environment and making every moment a positive experience for your pet.
